global warming…global issue
The issue on global warming has been in the news all over the world. This does not only concern certain individuals but everybody in this earth.
First, where did all this global warming came from? Global warming is the increase in the average temperature of the Earth’s near-surface. Meaning that the Earth’s temperature is getting worst than before because of certain things that humans are doing.
Global warming contributors include carbon dioxide from power plants pertaining to the burning of fossil fuels for the purpose of electric generation. Another contributor is the emission of carbon dioxide from cars, planes, and buildings.
Plastic!
Plastic is a discovery that puts the Earth into danger. Since it is non-biodegradable it is stocked in our surroundings for a long period of time. If we try to burn it, it will surely destroy the ozone layer. Some will find it funny but this is reality. It is happening at present time and no one is aware of it.
Ignorance
Ignorance is a very big problem that is faced by everyone. We cannot prevent or slow down the effects of global warming if we ourselves don’t know what global warming is. We should first take a look of what is global warming all about and then right after we start formulating for a stand on how we will prevent global warming to happen.
Segregation
Segregation of garbage is one good practice to help the Earth. I remember one speaker from a seminar I attended saying, “ibalik mo sa ina mong lupa ang mga kinuha mo”. This thought was stocked into my mind since the first time I heard it. Because putting biodegradable waste back where it belongs can be very useful to the environment. After getting rid of the biodegradable waste now think of things that you can do to non-biodegradable material like plastic. We could recycle things and come up with a better one.
Be thrifty
Being thrifty can be a big help to the problem of global warming because this does not only help your pocket but also the environment. How? It is by thinking of what you will buy. Just by the things that you need. Buy things in volume because you might thing that buying in sachets are cheaper than buying in bulk. One example is the shampoo, most Filipinos buy shampoos in sachets but if you will try to compute for the volume and the price of that shampoo you can save a lot from the one in bottle than the one in sachet.
Bring Bags
Bringing of bags will surely lessen the usage of plastics because instead of putting some items in the plastic bag. Now you won’t ask for plastic instead put it in your bag.
Earn money
Yes! You can earn money by segregating things properly. Dispose things that you are not using. Put away things that you bought but you don’t really need. Now SM super malls hold their recycling market every first Saturday of the month wherein you can bring all your recyclable materials in their booths and exchange it for cash. In this way you dispose your things properly while earning money.
Educate
Be knowledgeable. Reading books can be a useful tool to help you know about global warming and how you can prevent it. Nowadays there are a lot of resource materials that you can use to be educated like the internet.
Participate
We can also participate in activities like the one we had, the Earth hour where you will turn of the lights for an hour. Another simple tip is that we should keep our candy wrappers and dispose it properly and not throw it anywhere we want. There is a proper place for everything
Pass
Pass what you have learned and educate someone in your community or classmate because transferring of the message of global warming through word of mouth is the most useful thing. Because global warming is not a problem of the scientist but a problem of all the human beings here on Earth!
